Volunteering for AYSO is a rewarding way to make a lasting impact on children and your community while gaining meaningful personal benefits. AYSO’s “Everyone Plays®” philosophy ensures that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun, and volunteers are the heart of making that mission possible. By giving your time as a coach, referee, or team helper, you help teach kids teamwork, confidence, discipline, and respect, skills that extend far beyond the soccer field. Volunteering also strengthens families and communities by bringing people together in a positive, supportive environment, often creating lifelong friendships along the way. Best of all, AYSO provides training and support, so no prior soccer experience is required, just a willingness to help. Volunteering with AYSO isn’t just about soccer; it’s about shaping character, building community, and making a difference where it matters most.
You may be thinking:
- I don't know enough about soccer! That's OK, many of us didn't know much about soccer when we started. We will provide all the training you need for each of our volunteer roles. And many of our volunteer roles don't require soccer knowledge - they require skills in areas like computers, finances, management, public relations, or just plain physical work.
- I don't have the time! Even if you only have a few hours to give during a season, there are ways for you to volunteer, such as helping to sell uniforms during a registration event.
- I'm not physically able to volunteer! We have volunteer roles that don't require you to be physically active. For example, one of our recent referee administrators is legally blind. Although she wasn't able to referee, she was able to volunteer using her computer, management, and interpersonal skills.
